Rice milk is a grain milk made from rice. It's usually not sweetened, the sweet taste comes from a natural enzymatic process.

Commercial rice milk is typically manufactured using brown rice and brown rice syrup.

Uses

You can make smoothies with it, cheese sauces, rice pudding, baked goods and what not.

High arsenic

In research done on plant-based drinks in 2016, it was found that rice milk contains a high amount of inorganic arsenic. High arsenic in the body causes some serious side effects like heart disease and cancer[1].

Brown rice contains higher amounts of arsenic than white rice. Washing the rice before cooking, may remove 10–28% of the arsenic.

Horchata de arroz

Horchata de arroz is made of rice, sometimes with vanilla and typically with canella or cinnamon. In Alvarado, horchata de arroz is scented with flowers of the Aztec marigold.

It is the most common variety of horchata in Mexico and Guatemala.

Horchata de arroz is one of the three typical drink flavours of Mexican aguas frescas.
