Quiche is a savory pie made out of pastry crust filled with vegetables or other ingredients. Traditionally it is not a vegan dish because meat and dairy are very often used as a filling. However, it is easy to make quiche without any animal products at home. Some vegan restaurants in Europe and North America also have one or two types of quiches on their menu.

Vegan quiche is usually filled with tofu mixed with all kinds of vegetables and/or mushrooms.

Recipes

Best vegan recipe for quiche?

Line an oven dish with vegan short crust pastry.

Add in a layer of fried caramalised chopped onions, mushrooms,

add a layer of drained ackee

Blend together with stick blender

  • 1 block of tofu
  • 1 teaspoon of vegetable bouillon mix
  • 1 dessertspoon of yeast flakes
  • 1 dessertspoon of chopped parsley
  • 1 teaspoon of dijon mustard
  • 1 dessertspoon of tomato ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon of drained, pitted, green olives
  • 1 clove of garlic

add a thick layer of this on top of the ackee.

add some artistically arranged slices of red pepper

bake in an oven at 180 celsius for 30 to 35 minutes until firm and slightly crispy on top.
