Aunty Salwa arguably serves the best Lebanese food in Hamra (or even Beirut) and most of their dishes are vegan. You can select from different Mezze (filling appetizers) and proper dishes. The place is down-to-earth and quite inexpensive.
Aunty Salwa offers a wide range of up to 20 different dishes which they prepare before opening. Walk up to the glass counter to see them and to choose. You can create your own plate by selecting from 3 or 5 different dishes, depending on your plate size. The earlier you come the bigger is your choice. They sometimes also have extra side dishes such as Tabboule or Fattoush.
The food is excellent and for people who are not familiar with Lebanese cuisine this is a great way to try different dishes. Food they typically have is Louieh bi-Zeit, Mjaddra, Kibbet Yaqteen, Kibbet Batata, and many more traditional vegetable dishes. Most of them are usually eaten cold, but they microwave them for you if you prefer them warm.
Staff is very friendly and speak at least Arabic and English and are open to explain you which dishes are vegan and what they consist of.
The place is in a small lane off Omar Ibn Abd al-Aziz Street, next to Al-Mawarid Bank. Look for the green awning.
