Curry – a wide variety of dishes whose origins are mostly Southern and Southeastern Asian cuisines. A curry is usually a stew or a thick soup made out of various ingredients and seasoned with a complex combination of spices. There are many vegan versions of curries made out of vegetables, beans, chickpeas, lentils or other ingredients.

Curries are popular in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Britain and other countries. Indian restaurants usually serve many kinds of curries, and at least one or two of them are suitable for vegans – usually (but necessarily) vegetable curry and dal curry. Japanese and South Korean curries are rarely vegan because lard or meat extract is a common ingredient.

There are many curry recipes on the Internet, and it is easy to make it at home. However, making a good curry usually requires having a big variety of spices, or at least a good pre-made curry spice mix.
