Some char derived from cow bones is often used as a filter to whiten sugar during the refining process.

Unfortunaly the sugar packagings do not mention the process used.

Knowing the brands does not help as several manufactures are often working following different processes, for the same brand.

Using brown sugar is not a solution, brown sugar is often refined, and made brown again.

We can find alternatives in special organic groceries, selling vegan sugar not using this refining process.
